While most casual poker players are familiar with Texas Hold ‘Em, many online card rooms offer a lot of different kinds of games for players to partake in addition to it. In this article, we are going to take a look at one of these games, the game known as Razz.

Razz is played in a manner similar to Seven Card Stud. The difference between the two is that in Razz, you are attempting to make your best five-card low hand, as opposed to the high hand you will attempt to make in Stud. Each player will receive three cards face down (their first two cards and their final card) and four cards that will be face up for the entire table to see. Aces are always low in Razz, and straights and flushes do not matter. Hence, the best possible hand in Razz is a wheel, which is a straight comprised of A-2-3-4-5.

The hand will start with an ante, which is usually about 1/5 of a small bet. So if you are playing $1/2 Razz, the ante will be $.20. Each player is then dealt three cards, the first two of which come face down and the third coming face up. After the initial deal, the player with the highest card must post what is called a “bring in,” which means he has to place the low-limit bet size into the pot. In our example of $1/2 Razz, the bring in would be $1. If two people have the same rank of card, then the player closest to the left hand of the dealer has to post the bring in.

After the bring in is posted, each player after can choose to fold, call the bring in, or raise. As Razz is a limit game, the amount that can actually be raised is limited. When the initial betting is completed, each player remaining in the hand will receive their fourth card, which comes face up. Betting in this round is still done in increments of the low bet, so in our $1/2 Razz game, we are still looking at bets and raises of $1.

When betting is completed again, the fifth card comes. This card is also face up. The bet size in this round changes to the high limit bet, so now we would be looking at bets and raises of $2 based on our example game. Any players remaining after betting has finished will get their sixth card, which is the last one that comes in face up. Another round of betting will ensue after this, and we have almost completed the hand.

The last card that any remaining players are dealt comes in face down. The exception to this being if you are playing at a full table of eight players, and everyone has stayed in until the last card. In this case, there would not be enough cards for everyone to get one, so the dealer will simply place a community card in the middle of the table, and everyone would be free to use that card in their hand. (As you can probably assume, this is a rare occurrence.)

Betting once again takes place, and we then advance to the showdown. The last person to make a bet will be the first to show their hand, and it continues clockwise from there, with players choosing to either show their hands or throw them into the muck.

Those are your rules for Razz. It might sound like a fairly easy game, but it takes quite a different mindset to play Razz than it does to play Hold ‘Em or most other poker games. The next time you log onto your favorite internet poker room, give Razz a try. You might like it!

Introduction: What is Omaha poker.

Omaha poker also known as Omaha holdem is a community card game and one of many variations of the poker game. The idea of the game is to make the best five card hand you can from the cards available to you, this is the cards you are given plus the community cards.

It is very similar to the popular game Texas holdem apart from a few small changes in the game play. The game can be played with any standard deck of 52 cards and anywhere between 2 to 10 players.

The main difference between Omaha and Texas holdem is that when playing Omaha poker you are dealt out four cards personal at the start of the game instead of just two. However you are only permitted to use two of the four cards plus any three of the five community cards.

The game play:

The game starts with the player to the left of the dealer posting a small blind bet, the player next to that then posts a big blind bet. The cards are then dealt out before the betting starts - four face down cards to each player. Once all the cards have been dealt out the action starts with the player to the left of the big blind, players may bet, raise or fold their cards at this stage.

After betting has stopped the three community cards are then dealt out for everyone to see, in poker terminology this is called the flop. The players can now adjust to the situation and a second round of betting starts. If no one places a bet then players have the option to check, fold or bet. If a bet has already been placed players can choose to call, raise or fold.

Once the betting is over a fourth communal card is dealt out before betting starts again, In poker this card is known as “the turn” card. Once again when betting players have the options to check, raise, call or fold.

Finally the last community card is dealt out, known as the “river card”. Then there is a final round of betting. Once the betting is over the player with the best five-card poker hand wins. The position of the dealer then moves one place to its left and the whole process is started all over again.

Today Texas hold em has become the most popular of all poker games that a person is able to play today around the world. This game is not only played in casinos around the world but it is now available to many online as well. The great thing about this game and all games of poker is it provides the player with a chance to think and use strategies to outwit their opponents. However in this article we will be taking a quick look at how to play Texas hold em.

Firstly before the game actually begins and the cards are to be dealt a betting limit will be established. In every case the highest bet a person can place will double that of the minimum bet that has been set prior to the start of the game.

The player who sits on the left of the dealer will then post (place/put up) a “small blind” bet. This bet will be about ½ of what the minimum bet is. Whilst the player to the left of this player will then post the “big blind” bet which is the same as the minimum bet already agreed to at the beginning of the game.

The dealer now deals 2 cards to each player who is taking part and they must be face down. Once these have been dealt then the betting can begin. The first player to make a bet is the one who is to the left of the player who posted the big blind bet. As they go around the table then each player can decide whether they call (stay on the same bet), raise (bid higher) or fold (they take themselves out of the game). However all bets that are placed during this stage must be the same as the minimum bet level.

Next the dealer will deal 3 cards (called the flop) which are placed face up in the middle of the table. These are known as the community cards and which can be used by all the players.

Once these have been dealt then another round of betting will take place and this time it starts with the first player (active) who is still in the game and is to be found to the left of the dealer.

After this round of betting has been completed another community card is dealt face up by the dealer and then the third round of betting can commence. Upon completion of this round of betting the fifth and last community card will be dealt by the dealer (again face up) on to the table. Then after this card has been dealt the final round of betting with those players that are still in the game commences. Again the betting will commence with the player that is still active in the game and to the left of the dealer.

Now that the final round of betting has taken place in the game those left in the game will then determine who is the winner by looking at the cards that each player has. Above we have shown you in very brief detail how to play Texas hold em. But there are plenty of sites on the internet which could provide you with more detailed information with regard to this subject.

In a recent article, I talked about how I love to play Pai Gow and I gave you a little intro into the game. Today, I’m starting a beginner’s series on how to play Pai Gow. It’s an easy game to learn and we’ll take our time-going over everything in detail.

Quick Recap

Pai Gow is played with your typical 52-card deck and one joker card. You’ll receive seven cards and you’ll divide them into two hands. Your job is to beat the bank’s hand and as a player, you’ll have the chance to be the bank-unless the casino doesn’t offer that option.

Getting Started

The invention and growth of online casinos has really helped the low-limit Pai Gow players. It used to be that you’d have a tough time finding a Pai Gow game lower than $10 and even $10 Pai Gow games were hard.

Today, you can just jump online and find $5 Pai Gow games all over the Internet.

After you make your wager-and other player’s do the same-the dealer shuffles up the deck and deals out seven cards per hand spot. It’s important to note that the entire deck is used for each hand-unlike Blackjack where you just keep playing through the deck until it’s gone.

After this is complete, the hands at the spots where there are no players are taken. Yes, the dealer deals to empty spots. This is part of the game play. So, unlike Blackjack where players coming and going can affect hands, it doesn’t matter in Pai Gow.

We’ll talk about the bank later, but now that the hands are dealt and the bank is decided, it’s time to examine your hand. You’re going to break up your seven cards into two hands. The first hand will consist of one five-card hand, which is your best hand. Then the remaining two cards will make up your “2nd Highest” hand.

Now, before you rush out and player, there’s one important item you need to know. Your five-card hand MUST be the highest-ranking hand or you forfeit your money. For instance, you couldn’t put two Aces are your two-card hand and then have a pair of 2s as your five-card hand.

The strategy comes in decided how far to go. For instance, do you go with two pair as your highest hand and nothing as your 2nd highest hand or do you break them up? We’ll go over Pai Gow strategy in other articles.

Time To Win

Once all the hands are set, meaning they’ve all been split into the highest and 2nd highest hands, it’s time for the dealer to play. The dealer (not always the bank) will turn over the hand and set it according to casino rules.

To win, both of your hands need to beat both of the Banker’s hands. If you win one and lose one, it’s a push. Should one of your hands be exactly like one of the Banker’s hands, it’s called a “copy” and the Banker wins the hand.

In part two, we’ll continue with more on the Banker.

When playing, look after a table with happy players and a friendly dealer, in order to enjoy your blackjack game. Also, think positively to keep an emotional balance and to take maximum advantage of your blackjack skills.

The casino blackjack varies, but the most known forms of it are the classic blackjack and the blackjack tournament. The difference between the two is that the first is a game between the player and the dealer and the second one is a game of competing against other players instead of just playing against the house.

Although their increasing popularity in the last years, blackjack tournaments are not so easy and keenly to organize. The main problem is one of the spaces for holding these types of tournaments because it’s hard to reserve tables for a large tournament when most casinos offer only a few blackjack tables.

However, the blackjack is an exciting game no matter if it is played as classic blackjack or tournament or if it is played on land or online.

The object of the classic blackjack is to obtain a blackjack hand in order to beat the dealer. The value of the hand, more exactly the value of the first two cards, must be closer to 21 than that of the dealer, without going over 21. The classic form is at some points inflexible, the players don’t interact between them and they are only playing with the house.

On the other hand, blackjack tournament is a variation in which the players struggle with each other. The object in this case is to collect in the end more chips than the fellows. The most known types of tournament are single table and multi table. The difference consists in the number of the tables involved in the same blackjack game and as a consequence in fact that a player has to compete against all of the players at all of the other tables.

Keep in mind that you are not a winner until your ranking is better relative to the other players. Also, participants in the blackjack tournament usually have a limited time or a predetermined number of hands to play and a certain amount of money to bet.

The tournament implies more action and more hazard as it requires multiple qualifying rounds. You have to learn to put in balance the risk and rewards and take the most suitable decision in order to get full value of every bet. There are people who place small bets constantly to reduce the risk of being eliminate or ruined at the table game. Other players put large bets in their attempt to get reach faster, but they rarely succeed. In the case of a tournament is hard to tell which of these strategies to adopt and also the blackjack basic strategy of counting the cards is not so proper to use.

But there is something else you can do. You can put small bets and observe the opportunities to place large bets. It may happen that most of the players to put small bet and to be a perfect moment for you to make a large bet. It depends how you see the others: if they are timid or daring. And here comes one of the blackjack tips: you can increase the bets in the middle hand if you feel you have chances to win.

So, enjoy a blackjack tournament in live casino or online casino. The tournament on land are usually held in classy resorts which offer services like swimming, sunbathing, massage and other relaxing and entertaining methods.

Online blackjack tournaments are similar to those on land. The difference is they are less competitive, but give to more players the opportunity to win and also not disqualify players at the end of each round of gaming as is the case of casino tournaments.

Choose the suitable form of blackjack for you, relax and have fun!

War, what is it good for? Absolute fun and profit, that’s what it’s good for! If your childhood was anything like mine, you played the card game War often. One day the casino execs woke up and decided to bring this popular card game to the casino.

In Las Vegas, War was a side game. If a casino had it, the game was given one table spot in the pit. Thankfully, online casinos aren’t limited to floor space and that’s why most online casinos have War.

Okay, I’m not going to assume you know how to play, so I’ll start at the beginning.

War is played against the dealer. If you’re playing it online, it will just be you at the table. In real life, there could be other players, but everyone is playing against the dealer.

War is played with one deck of cards and the deck is shuffled after every hand. Your goal is to beat the dealer. It’s a simple game. You get one card and the dealer gets one card. You want your card to be higher than the dealer’s card.

In War, the cards rank like this: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace.

Okay, it’s called War and war is what we want. If your card matches (in rank) the card the dealer gets, you’ve got a potential war. I say potential, because you can fold if you feel nervous.

I don’t recommend folding. Why? Well, if you’re not going to war, why play the game. Honestly, the fold option makes no sense. It’s just there to take advantage of the suckers. I mean think about it. The deck is fresh. Two cards are out. You and the dealer have the same cards. Why on earth would you fold?

Instead, your move is to double your wager (required to stay in the hand) and see what happens. It’s just like the classic game. Three cards are placed face down on each hand and a fourth card is placed face up. If your fourth card is higher than the dealer’s fourth card, you win. If not, you lose. It’s as simple as that.

There’s no thinking in this game. It’s a fun game to kick back to. You place your wager, get a card and win, lose or go to war. The payout is always even money no matter how you win.

Actually, war can be a blessing. It’s the only way you can increase your original wager.

Example Hand:

You place a $5 bet. The dealer gets a 7 and you get a 7. You decide to stay in and go to war, so you place an additional $5 wager-$10 total now. You and the dealer get three down cards and a fourth up card. The dealer shows a 6 and you show a 10. You win and are promptly paid $10.

ROI Stands for ‘Return on Investment’ and is a commonly used way of calculating your profits in poker. The exact method of calculating ROI will vary depending on which form of the game is played. A more useful figure for poker players may be ‘hourly rate’ which takes into account the time spent playing.

1) Calculating Poker ROI for Tournaments / Sit and Goes
ROI for tournaments is expressed as a percentage of your original buy-in. It is standard in poker to remove 100% (buy-in) from the calculation at the end. For example:

You play 100 tournaments each with a buy in of $10 + $1 fee and end up with a total bankroll of $1600.

ROI = (1600)/(1100) or 145% - remove the 100% (standard format) and you have a ROI of 45% for those tournaments.

2) Calculating ROI for Cash Games
ROI for cash games becomes a little more difficult. This is because you need a time frame over which to calculate your return. The standard poker format for this is to use 100 hands. For example.

You play 1000 hands of poker over a single session and make $500 profit. Your buy-in for the game st the start was $200. ROI is thus 50% per 100 hands. It is also common in poker cash games to calculate profit as the number of big blinds won per 100 hands. In this example with blinds at $2/$1 you could note your profits as 25 Big Blinds per 100 hands.

3) Hourly Rates - A More Useful Number?
ROI in both of the above examples does not factor in the time you spent playing the game. To get a truely useful number you need to divide your total profit by the time at the tables. This figure can then be used to compare different formats of the game, buy-in levels or different poker sites to see which is the most profitable.

Online casino gaming is much the same as gaming at offline casinos. Like offline casinos, online casinos offer a variety of games. The gambling odds are often better at online casinos than offline ones, though, on certain types of games (like slots) where the odds are set by the casino.

The reason for this is that online casinos have lower overhead and employ fewer people. Thus, online casinos are able to return more money to online gamblers in the form of winnings while still making a profit. Many online casinos also offer something that traditional offline casinos do not, a sign up bonus for gaming at the site.

Online casino gaming bonuses are usually issued in the form of credits with which a player may gamble. Online casino rules usually state that a player must wager a multiple of the bonus plus the player’s initial deposit. For certain table games, such as blackjack, in which the house edge is typically small, online casino bonuses have the effect (if a player plays wisely) of eliminating the house edge. You can’t withdraw the bonus money itself usually, but any money you win playing with it you get to keep.

People new to online casinos often wonder if they provide the same games that offline casinos do. The answer is yes they do. Most online casino sites offer a variety of traditional casino games, including slots, dice games such as craps, card games like poker, and other table games like roulette.

The difference between online casinos and offline ones is that online casinos use software that controls game play using random number generators to ensure fair game play. The best online casinos use software from a major provider known to provide quality game play with fair results.

Many sites rank and review online casinos, and claim to offer directories of the best online casino sites. Most of these sites have banner ads for their favored online casinos. For a more objective way of evaluating casinos to find the best online casino sites, choose a casino that uses a major software provider and that offers a variety of games for you to play and one that has been online for more than 5 years.
